Manager of Hydraulic Assembly and Test

PneuDraulics, a leading manufacturer of precision aerospace hydraulic components in its 51st year of profitable operation, is looking for a hands-on Manager of Assembly and Test to oversee its two shift manufacturing operation. Reporting directly to this position are supervisors of assembly and test and ultimately a team of approximately 50 assemblers and testers. The position will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the assembly and test departments. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with a strong but supportive management style. He/she will be driven and process oriented.
REQUIREMENTS
At a minimum, the candidate will have the following:

1.Ten (10) years of “hydraulic” industry experience. This could include fluids control products other than hydraulic (oil) such as cryogenics or pneumatics. This would include experience with valves, actuators, accumulators, reservoirs, pumps, etc.
2.Five (5) years of managerial experience with 10 or more people.
3.Strong supervisory/managerial skills. Must be very adept at managing and motivating a culturally diverse workforce but not a workforce that necessarily difficult to manage. Must be a natural leader who can lead by example and drive home accountability.
4.Must be an answer person. Needs to understand the production requirements and schedule and be able to articulate the same in management meetings with a high degree of specificity and clarity. Needs to be willing to make a commitment and back it up with actions and results.
5.Absolutely must be a hands-on, on-the-floor manager. Must engage the workforce as a facilitator to resolve production “problems” with the development of controlled and documented fixes/processes to prevent routine reoccurrence of problems.

Additional Desirables:

1.Strong computer skills. Would be able to learn, understand and utilize our MRP system. Would be well versed in the Microsoft Office Suite and would be using these tools currently to maximize effectiveness in the execution of their current day-to-day responsibilities. Would be able to use these tools to present continuous improvement efforts and to track, coordinate, schedule, document, etc. daily production activities.
2.First hand experience with lean initiatives at a shop floor level – in particular Kaizen events, mistake proofing (Poka-Yoke), 5s, SMED (set-up reduction/standardization).
3.A/P mechanic’s background.
4.A Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferably in engineering or a technical discipline.
5.Understanding/experience with LabVIEW and automated testing.
6.Military experience in aircraft hydraulics systems maintenance and testing.
7.Previous experience as a test technician.
