General Manager for Overseas Printing Company
General Manager New Overseas Commercial Printing Company A joint venture is establishing a new commercial printing operation in a Republic of the former Soviet Union and is willing to pay top dollar salaries and bonuses for key management positions including the General Manager and a Production Manager. This will be a large commercial operation featuring 4 to 6 color printing. The successful candidate will participate in the start up planning and will be involved in the design of the facility and the acquisition of the necessary equipment. We are looking for the right candidate who is highly energetic, self-motivated, goal oriented and customer focused to be the General Manager. The joint venture will pay top dollar salary, bonuses, benefits and a complete expatriate package for the right person and his or her family.Responsibilities:? Support entry into the former Soviet Union market by managing overall operations of a startup printing facility in a former Soviet republic. ? Direct and maintain all activities at the printing facility to include supporting the construction and outfitting of the printing facility and hiring qualified local staff.? Complete responsibility for P/L management of the printing company.? Provide strategic oversight of the day-to-day company processes.? Oversee startup corporate-level efforts to define an efficient and technologically advanced print production and graphics design process.? Oversee the identification and acquisition of a cost-effective suite of equipment and facilities Oversee the staffing of the company and conduct or arrange necessary training on state-of-the-art practices to meet company objectives. Establish current and long range goals, objectives, plans and policies subject to approval by the joint venture directors. Dispense advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans, standards and procedures consistent with established policies and joint venture approval. Meet with other company executives to ensure that operations are being executed in accordance with policies. Oversee the adequacy and soundness of the company’s financial structure. Review operating results, compare them with established objectives and take steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results. Establish and maintain an effective system of communications throughout the company. Represent the company with major customers, shareholders, the financial community and the public. Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies. Ensure that housekeeping is maintained and the overall appearance of the company is pleasing to the customers and provides a healthy and satisfactory work environment for the staff. Employee Development Assign projects to personnel and conduct one-on-one meetings with individual employees to provide guidance on project criteria and deadlines and to review the status of other projects on the employee’s work schedule. Provide a positive, motivating example for employees. Write and present employee performance evaluations and provide feedback on performance throughout the year. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: MBA or equivalent experience in business management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English required. Fluency in written and verbal Russian is a major plus. Excellent understanding of the Microsoft office suite. Good mathematical skills. Able to develop and implement policy and procedure manuals to cover all company activities. Excellent interpersonal skills. Familiarity with team building techniques. Knowledge of print production processes and interfaces is a major plus. Meets or exceeds test requirements as established by the Joint Venture. Willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement at the time of the interview. Comfortable in an entrepreneurial role in a corporate “start-up” in an overseas environment is a major plus. Business experience in the Former Soviet Union is a major plus. 5 years experience in managing a medium sized company, attracting and retaining sales relationships, and managing teams. Direct P&L experience including developing annual operating budgets, variance reports, monthly and quarterly management reports. Experience in establishing an office, preferably overseas. Experience in managing a staff of 15 -20 people (including local staff who are native non -English speaking) with no supporting infrastructure. Willing to live & work in the former Soviet Union; some travel to the US required. Willingness to commit three to five years working on this project and sign an employment agreement. US citizenship required; persons with dual European/US citizenship preferred. Must successfully complete extensive interviews, testing and other assessments. References will be thoroughly checked and previous employers contacted. Three rounds of on-site interview required: one by search firm; other two by client and business consultant. Job employment flexibility to wait up to six to seven months while due diligence is being completed. Able to complete 2-3 months of hands-on business-specific training at a US facility.
