Under the direction of the Clinical Research Director, and Chairman, the Research, Grants and Development Administrator is responsible for supporting the Emergency Medicine clinical research strategy, as well as facilitating public relations and development for the Emergency Medicine Department at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. The primary contributions of the person filling this position will be to identify key research opportunities (federal and private) and areas of emphasis to be pursued over the long term. He or she will generate a fund base for research projects through grant sourcing and writing; provide research administration support to faculty members; recruit and interview individuals such as Biostatisiticians, Research Assistants, Research Nurses and medical students; facilitate the research approval process (e.g., IRB, human/animal study applications); and participate in or coordinate specific departmental research projects. The other focus of the position will be on public relations and development for the Department. This will include production of a quarterly newsletter for the department, logo and graphics design, BWH ED web design and development, and production of certain presentations or graphics related to research projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree Strongly Preferred
Five years experience in a medical research facility, hospital, or similar environment. Extensive experience with health-related grant administration. Experience with budget management
Extensive experience with graphic design, publishing, and marketing initiatives.Computer literate in most programs including proficiency with Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and QuarkXPress or similar photo editing software. Computer literate in utilizing the Internet for research purposes (targeting grant awards, foundations, research material, etc.). Excellent with detail, design, and creativity. Strong desktop publishing skills.
Strong writing skills (must be able to write grants and articles, and edit manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and grants). Strong communication skills (to work with a variety of people: MDs, RNs, students, administrative staff). Ability to meaningfully abstract information from computerized databases. Strong organizational skills (must work well in a multi-task environment and meet deadlines while doing so). Strong managerial skills (to work with administrative staff, temporary employees, students and others)
Proven ability to work independently with little supervision.
