ANET Internet Solutions, Chicago’s leading commercial independent provider of internet and data services, is offering a challenging opportunity for a candidate who desires to manage the overall operations of this business. The General Manager (‘GM’) is primarily responsible for profit and loss, sales growth and operations management. Candidates must have a proven track record in general or strategic sales management with an emphasis on commercial customers ranging from small businesses to enterprise customers. Candidates should also possess the ability to develop new revenue programs and be successful in a highly competitive environment. Candidates must have background in the telecommunications industry. The GM reports to the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Continental Broadband, Inc (‘CBB’), who is located in Norfolk, Virginia.CBB, which operates five separately branded companies in ten cities, is wholly owned by Landmark Communications, Inc. Landmark is a privately owned media, information and distribution company with diverse business interests including publishing, broadcasting, weather, telecommunications, and other emerging businesses. CBB executives will support the GM as needed to achieve results, and the GM will interact with CBB as required on a routine weekly and monthly basis.

Essential functions:•Drive revenue and profit growth in the local and regional cities.
•Manage ongoing operations.
•Anticipate, interpret and communicate financial results for the business.
•Oversee the local administration, accounting and human resource functions.
•Communicate performance expectations to appropriate managers.
•Adopt the CBB business strategy and competitive advantage to the market.
•Provide forward thinking on product development and manage local roll-outs.
•Proactively solve complex customer problems.
•Recruit, coach and develop department managers and staff.•Drive successful integration of local market acquisitions.Skills and knowledge required:
•Strong knowledge of telecommunications and the local competitive environment.
•Understanding of basic IP and telecommunication connectivity and applications.
•Understanding of facilities based infrastructure (data centers).
•Proven ability to build strong relationships with sales prospects, customers, and partners.
•Working understanding of financial statements and profitability analysis.
•Knowledge and understanding of cost structures and return on capital.
•Demonstrate good time management skills; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
•Demonstrate the ability to anticipate needs and think ahead to possible solutions.
•5 to 10 years telecommunication experience.
•2 to 5 years successfully managing a business.
•5 to 10 years Management experience (including managers and sales people) with proven results.Education:
•Bachelor degree in a technical or business field required. MBA or equivalent may be considered a plus.
