Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

SUMMARY
This position reports to the CFO of Multiquip Inc. and is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining relevant policies, programs, procedures and training as they relate to all applicable state and federally mandated Environmental, Workers’ Compensation and OSHA regulations. This position shall be responsible for ensuring compliance with the above-referenced areas for all U.S. locations of Multiquip Inc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for all Multiquip GCE and MQ Power U.S. locations shall include the following:

•Promote a culture of safety and hazard awareness throughout Multiquip Inc.
•Willingness and ability to travel extensively to the various Multiquip Inc. locations to perform safety audits and training.
•Must have a thorough understanding of the various OSHA topics including but not limited to, Hazard Communications, Forklift, PPE, Respiratory Protection, Lock-out/Tag-Out, Fall Protection, Confined Space, OSHA First Responder, as well as the OSHA Hazwoper refresher, DOT Hazardous Materials and the EPA RCRA regulations.
•Should be capable to effectively and professionally conducting full-blown Site Assessments and produce written plans.
•Oversee New Hire Safety Orientation Training, and on-going safety and hazardous communications training is conducted for existing employees.
•Oversee Safety Committees at the various locations to ensure that regular meetings are being conducted. Review minutes of meetings and ensure that safety issues/hazards identified are corrected in a timely manner.
•Ensure that OSHA 300 logs are being recorded and maintained for all locations.
•Ensure all forklift and reach truck operators are certified and that recertification training is conducted in a timely manner.
•Ensuring an up-to-date facility safety and emergency evacuation plans are in place at all locations.
•Report quarterly to the Executive Management Committee on training, compliance, safety and workers’ compensation issues and identify plans of action for improvement.
•Ensure that MSDS and regulatory posters are kept up to date at each location.
•Ensure that all environmental permits and regulatory compliance requirements (such as hazardous waste management reports) are attended to in a timely manner.
•Meet with workers’ compensation carrier on a regular basis to discuss open claims and develop return to work programs and action plans for closing out open claims.
•Oversee outside sales personnel’s vehicle and safety training programs.
•Maintain records of all training programs as they relate to environmental, health and safety topics.
•Ensure that all employees have proper Personal Protective Equipment and that PPE is being worn/used in a proper manner (i.e. respirator fit testing and usage training).
•Ensure that all state and federal environmental codes and regulations are being monitored and adhered to at all locations.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Occupational Safety or other related area of study required. Master’s degree preferred.
Additional certifications in 40-hour EPA/OSHA HAZWOPER and other related training certification courses (such as Certified Safety Consultant, Certified Safety Professional or Certified Process Safety Manager) are highly desirable.
Membership in National Association of Safety Professionals or other related group required.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and/or employees of the various Multiquip Inc. organizations regarding safety information topics.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to use MS WORD, Excel, MS Outlook, Power Point and Internet to perform research and retrieve EHS information with proficiency is required.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only a limited amount of information may be available.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license with a driving record which is acceptable to the company’s insurance carrier for driving on company business or in a company/rental vehicle.
OSHA required training and certifications must be obtained and maintained in current status.
