The Port Authority of Kansas
City, Missouri was established
in 1977 and operates
as a seven-member,mayor- appointed board.In the mid-1990's, theemergence of riverboatgaming gave the PortAuthority a more prominent
role in the region'seconomic life. These responsibilities
include therevitalization of the Kansas
City Riverfront and theredevelopment of the former
Richards-Gebaur AirForce Base as an intermodal
freight distribution facility.

The ideal candidate willhave experience as an assistant
director of a portdistrict, or similar privateexperience negotiating andcrafting agreements inconjunction with legal andother counsel, in the areasof development, purchasing
actions, contracting,leasing and other financialand legal obligations.Bachelor's degree in Business/Public
Administration,
Planning, Economics,Finance or a related field isrequired. A Master's degree
is preferred. Fiveyears of significant management
experience in portadministration or operation,
marine transportationor closely related management
experience providing
familiarity with waterway
commerce,knowledge of internationaltrade, and knowledge ofrail, water, and highwaytransportation required.Kansas City, Missouri residency
or a willingness torelocate is a requirement.
