The Hunterdon Healthcare System has launched a search to select a new Director to lead the education efforts for our Nursing Staff Development department. The Director of Staff Development is responsible for coordinating, directing, organizing and evaluating the orientation and ongoing education for the Hunterdon Medical Center's Nursing Department. This challenging and demanding position requires an accomplished leader with strong clinical skills who has demonstrated a capacity to build constituencies. The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with schools of nursing and for creating innovative student curriculum and teaching/learning experiences. The candidate must have the ability to consistently demonstrate a high degree of leadership, creativity, enthusiasm and vision. He/she must have the ability to effectively communicate will all levels and operating areas and present to committees, executives, regulatory agencies and staff. He/she must have a collaborative management style and a commitment to excellence and best practice.Duties include: Ensuring nursing compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, EMTALA, CMS and DOH standards and regulations Developing, implementing, conducting and assessing training and education programs Evaluating and implementing new nursing technology, software and clinical information systems, as well as, providing the necessary education and training Serving as nurse/pharmacy liaison for medication delivery system Coordinating yearly nurse competencies Utilizing the Shared Governance model in promoting excellence in the approach to patient care Membership in professional nursing organizations and active involvement in community activities Supervising Staff Development team Serving on various committees and teams Assisting with Medical Center's pursuit of Magnet designation Requirements: The successful candidate will have at least five years of related experience for a hospital or healthcare system. Current NJ RN license and a master's degree are required.Reports To: The Director will report directly to the Vice President, Patient Care Services. The Director will have regular and substantive interactions with others including nursing staff, medical staff, executive team and department heads.
