To design, direct, implement, administer and monitor Catholic Health Initiatives’ national media relations strategy.To serve as CHI spokesperson with national, business, Catholic and local media related to medical and external communications issues.
Direct, design, develop and oversee communications planning and media relations strategy to promote CHI, its positioning strategy, key initiatives and prioritiesDevelop and monitor media relations and external communications policies and procedures.Manage and coordinate national media relations including consumer, trade, business and Catholic media.Create and implement educational programs and training for CHI leadership and MBO executives in media relations and related areas of professional development.Develop and execute crisis communications strategies at the national and MBO levels, where appropriate.Provide consultation to MBO leadership and the National Leadership Team on media relations and community leadership relationships.Create media database and work with external electronic media services, as needed, to ensure accurate and timely release and distribution of CHI media information.Monitor, track and analyze media activity and prepare content analysis reports.Monitor, track and analyze inventory of background and issue/advocacy related media information.Works with national groups, as assigned, as internal communications consultant.Travel requirement - 30 to 50%.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and understanding of hospitals and health systems. Knowledge and understanding of health care political and regulatory environment. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. Ability to serve as both consultant and project manager; project management experience in communications and marketing. Ability to effectively work in a large, geographically diverse system. Collaborative working style; ability to leverage CHI’s size to acquire top-notch professional development talent for media training and development. Ability to influence colleagues on communication strategy and implementation. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Graduate degree in communications, journalism or equivalent. Experience as journalist preferred. Senior-level experience in communications and marketing. Experience in a leadership position for a health care system.Benefits
