Direct Sourcing Manager

Business Unit: GE Industrial, Equipment ServicesFunction: OperationsResponsibilities: * Direct material negotiations and order processing - Chicago & Field Sales.
Insure shop participation on negotiated indirect material contracts.
Expand national contracts on indirect SG&A purchased items. Identify items which we
currently do not have a contract for and negotiate with vendors.
Insure Sourcing involvement on all purchases.
Process all generated purchase orders.
Maintain integrity of purchasing system/data base by insuring accuracy of system and completion of information.
Conduct Sourcing activities so that all purchased items meet quality, delivery, and pricing requirements.
Process material requests received from Lessees, Railroads, GE Repair Shops and Contract Repair Shops.
Maintain auditable purchase order system.
Analyze on-going Sourcing activity.
Process yearly requests for bids and annual blanket orders.
Effectively interact with Fleet Operations to ensure cost effective maintenance of owned and managed fleet.
Participate in activities as assigned by Vice President, Sourcing.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree
3+ years of purchasing experience including SG&A and MRO items, familiarity with automated purchasing systems
2+ years negotiating experience
Ability to travel as necessary
Willingness to work in Chicago, relocation assistance is not available
Willingness to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to drug testing, reference verification and background checkDesired: * Documented negotiating successes
5+ years purchasing/negotiating experience
Strong mechanical knowledge of freight cars
General familiarity with AAR, ASME terminology and practices
Ability to read blueprints
Good communication skills, written and verbal
