Business Systems Analyst

The Business Systems Analyst ensures an effective and efficient operating environment. They are responsible to solve the complex issues that arise with system operations, and to support development of enhancements or new releases. The Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and working with the appropriate Application or Technical Developers. In addition, the Business Systems Analyst will assist in emergency situations to define processes, communicate with the business, and engage corrective action or clean up activities.

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for understanding the impact of changes to the business community and the risks involved to the organization. This understanding is required to ensure the appropriate severity setting resulting in efficient and effective operation of the environment and business. The performance of this position will directly impact how the department coordinates technology and change throughout the organization. Through accurate problem identification, determination, and documentation, the Business Systems Analyst can reduce the mean time to repair for the organization, and influence current/future development efforts through root cause determination.

- Researches, resolves, and responds to highly complex system/process related issues in their area of responsibility and within our SAP suite of hardware/software products.

- Quickly understand the business issues, data challenges and improvement opportunities of Grainger's processes or systems.

- Promotes solution–oriented thinking to foster process-centric environment at Grainger.

- Participates and/or coordinates required testing/validation of system fixes.

- Performs problem determination and resolution within their area of knowledge.

- Insures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner; escalates and retains ownership of all open/unresolved issues.

- Participates in system emergency or crisis situations to define/implement workaround processes, corrective action, communication, and system clean up activities.

- Applies project standards with all areas to ensure a smooth efficient process, and communicates status and issues to management on a timely basis.

REQUIREMENTS


- Bachelor degree in Business Area or IS desired or equivalent work experience.

- Strong system knowledge of SAP - MM/PLM module

- 5+ years of combined application development and or/business process experience.

- Strong understanding of complex conceptual and technical issues, demonstrates ERP configuration and customization expertise in one or more functions within a module.

- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate to various levels of management to clarify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.

- Continually seeks opportunities to increase process/system efficiencies, customer satisfaction and overall business improvement.

- Ability to work on cross-functional teams.

- Ability to adapt to changing business processes, technologies, and environments.
