Business Analyst - Web

Purpose:
Expedia is looking for a talented and experienced analyst who can contribute to the success of our ambitious website analytics initiatives. This position is responsible for managing the Tealeaf web analytics tool to provide meaningful business critical reporting to a diverse set of internal customers. Identification of trends in website performance, proactive detection and prevention of emergency production issues as well as isolation of sources of current problems will be part of daily responsibilities. This individual will identify quick wins for the organization as well as provide analysis to assist in the identification and prioritization of medium to long term / large projects to drive operational efficiencies and stability. This position will work closely with multiple Expedia business stakeholders and operational teams to integrate a third-party site analytics solution with the technology platform and business processes of the world’s largest online seller of travel.


Key Areas Of Responsibility:

Provide detailed quantitative analysis and scheduled as well as ad hoc reports to support key decision makers in understanding usage and behavior of users.
Assist in defining key operational and strategic metrics that will enable the Business and Product Development teams to effectively manage their business.
Enable decision makers to manage their business and development priorities by providing an accurate view into key performance metrics.
Analyze information to isolate areas of both opportunity & success and report on progress toward our goals and strategies.
As Tealeaf Subject Matter Expert (SME) provide ongoing metrics support including training, requirements and reporting for Tealeaf implementation and user support as the system evolves with changes in Expedia’s and the vendor’s technology platforms.
Provide support for emerging reporting needs, including working closely with key internal customers to define new reporting solutions.
Assist analysts throughout the company with understanding of the web analytics system, and provide them with the context of the data in relation to the various business initiatives and strategic goals of the organization.
Work closely with business stakeholders to help define our web analytics product strategy that meets the internal customers needs while satisfying scalability, reliability, performance, and resource costs.
Take ownership in driving new feature development within the web analytics tool through every stage of the product lifecycle.
Evangelize the system within the organization, and have a detailed understanding of the use of the tools as an integral part of our business.



Qualifications & Experience:

4+ years of experience working in an online or e-commerce environment with web analytics.
Outstanding analytical skills are required, with a history of success in synthesizing diverse information from varied sources, in collecting and researching data, along with the ability use intuition and experience to complement data.
Works well under pressure, has the ability to work within stringent timelines and to collaborate across departments to achieve results.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter, be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, own deliverables end to end, prioritize workload effectively, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Must be a true problem solver with outstanding skills in discovery techniques and the proven ability to translate the underlying business needs of requests into actionable reports.
A strong focus on detail, with the proven ability to ensure data and related reports are thorough and totally reliable.
A demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and working with new tools and technologies is essential. Must be a self-starter with the demonstrated ability to recommend data analysis tools and learn them as autonomously as possible.
Must be a strong and enthusiastic team player with excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization.
Experience with business users and able to translate raw data into meaningful information.
Solid understanding of web/portal behavior.
Passion for reporting and supporting a key customer oriented business environment.
Experience with vendor metrics tools such as Tealeaf, WebSideStory, Omniture, Tealeaf, WebTrends.
High proficiency in MS Office software: Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
A MS/BS degree ore equivalent experience in a technical field or related discipline preferred.
