JOB DESCRIPTION
Business Analyst

PROJECT

This is a large initiative that involves three main areas:

Building an operational data hub for SOR to SOR extracts, Adding new SORs to the enterprise data warehouse and its affected existing marts/extracts, and Implementing infrastructure to support the group as well as the additional data coming in.

ROLE
75% Business Analysis
25% Data Modeling

Participates in the incremental development of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and loading or extracting of data from the warehouse to multiple data marts. Participates throughout the project life cycle, from planning to production implementation, with emphasis on business requirements, analysis and follow-through to production.

RESPONSIBILITIES
*Act as a liaison to the business owners
*Acts as expert technical resource to business and analytic staff
*May act as project/team lead
*Facilitate interview and group sessions to obtain business requirements
*Gather detailed business and technical requirements and participate in the definitions of business rules and data standards
*Map the requirements to the source systems, the EDW and applicable data marts
*Participate in all phases of the development life cycle for assigned projects and coordinate business issues resolution throughout each project
*Participate in issue research and resolution for Production when appropriate
*Participate in business systems planning for integrated analytic needs.
*Participate in defining approaches and priorities for satisfying needs.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
*7-10+ years experience in business analysis techniques
*Bachelors degree or equivalent education/work experience
*Experience in data warehouse or information-based planning and analysis
*Proven oral and written communication skills; excellent business presentation skills
*Ability to interface effectively with all levels and across organizational lines, including the business units
*Ability to effectively utilize external vendors and resources throughout the organization
*Demonstrated success at building team relationships and partnerships across organizational lines
*A thorough understanding of relational and dimensional databases and data models

Desired:
*Experience working on data warehouse/data mart development projects; financial experience (data warehouse is the more important of the two)
*UAT testing experience
*Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies and trends in data warehousing
*Experience with writing SQL queries or using a query tool against a database experience (this is helpful to have for researching issues/requests)
*Understanding of relational and dimensional databases and data models
*Lead experience is a plus but not required
