Accountant - Assistant to Controller

We have an immediate need for a strong seasoned Accountant to be the right hand person to the Controller of a leading Atlanta Software Development firm headquartered in the Perimeter area of Atlanta. This is a new position as a direct result of growth and will offer you an opportunity to be well positioned for anticipated growth in the accounting department.

This position is responsible for all aspects of financial statement preparation including general ledger, A/P, payroll processing and fixed assets.

Responsibilities:

Record Journal entries for preparation of timely and accurate financial statements

Calculate post verify and key financial information used in financial statements

Perform day to day functions and activities of accounts payable to include reconciling to the general ledger.

Perform day to day functions and activities of payroll

Responsible for audit information on workers compensation, payroll and annual financial statement audit

Various financial analysis, perform bank reconciliations, preparation of month end close, preparation of year end close, general ledger reconciliations

REQUIREMENTS


Qualifications / Skills

· Peachtree Accounting Software experience a plus

· Proficient in MS Office (especially excel)

· Good working knowledge of GAAP

· Organized with good math skills

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills

· Self-starter

· Detailed oriented

· Minimum of 3 years of general ledger and financial statement preparation experience



Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university a must. CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with internal employees along with customers and vendors of the company. .
