Job Description:
The Specialist Network Engineering leads projects associated with the planning, technical design, implementation, and network administration of Ernst & Young’s wide area, local area, or remote access networks. This professional participates in the installation and maintenance of all hardware and software-based systems. Responsibilities Plan and evaluate complex existing network systems and make recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels. Provide highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, operations, and architecture. Develop technical standards, procedures, and interface applications. Identify and evaluate new products, and provide resolutions for network problems. Participate in the administration of the firm’s networks, including monitoring, maintenance, fault detection, problem solving, and acceptance testing of such networks. Assist in network risk analysis, costing, modeling, and back-up administration functions. Develop utilization and statistical reports regarding network usage. Interface with vendors to identify and purchase hardware and software. Serve as a lead for network engineers. Supervise projects and/or project members directly in the development, implementation, and support of products and services within defined business requirements.Manage resources within a project team to meet planned needs and prioritize work accordingly Continually review processes and tools to maintain currency with technological progress, economic change and business needs. Act as a Project Manager for small, medium and large-scale projects that will have a local, regional and global impact. It is expected that this individual will be able to not only manage his or her schedules & resources but also to also manage the resources, budget & deliverables of the project resources. This individual will also be a project resource as assigned for small, medium and large-scale projects that will have a local, regional and global impact. This individual will also have discretion as to how these objectives are accomplished within the parameters of the project and overall guidelines of the firm. This individual is also expected to develop new and innovative approaches to existing problems and to highlight possibilities as they develop in the IT industry. Provide L3 support as required for products that he or she is responsible for.Direct staff members indirectly in the development, implementation, and support of technologies from the Foundation Team. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Job Requirements: The holder of this position must have: Experience in the operating system(s), specific applications and or tools as required to perform the technical aspects of the position Project management experience commensurate with the required position A sense of creativity that is demonstrated by the ability to find new solutions A desire to maintain knowledge of existing and emerging network technologies in the marketplace and in use by the firm The ability to apply the above knowledge to the proposal of change and improvement to any component of our global products and services that will provide measurable business benefit Education: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience or professional certifications that are universally recognized Experience: Approximately 5-7 years of related experience Skills: Excellent judgment, tact, and decision-making ability
