Senior Estimator & Estimator
A San Francisco construction firm is seeking candidates for Estimator and Senior Estimator positions.
Senior Estimator: Primary responsibilities for Senior Estimator include developing cost estimates and budgeting services for the larger and more complicated projects. Can function as a “team leader” within their department and can be called upon to help train and mentor junior members of the department. Provide accurate preliminary construction budgets. Monitor and expedite the project from conceptual budget through value engineering to final acceptable budget prior to completion of bid documents. Develop subcontract bidder scope letters and formally bid the project to subcontractors. Receive subcontractor bids, analyze, reconcile bids and present final proposal to client. Participate in subcontractor interviews as required. Assist project team with construction scheduling, subcontractor selections, change order costing and other areas as required. Project buyout-write owner contract, subcontacts, purchase orders, post project for accounting input. Mentor and train less senior members of the department. Perform other projects and duties as assigned. A High school diploma is required, a college degree preferred. Must have construction, project management and building knowledge and a working knowledge of all basic software programs, e.g., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Timberline, Prolog, e-mail and possess good math skills. Must have 5 -7 years of experience in estimating in construction field. Compensation package includes salary ($105K – $115K) DOE, plus benefits. Participate in the pre-construction process to assist project team in scheduling/pricing; ensure agreements are on track and to set new goals; meet prospective bidders at project site. Perform preliminary cost analysis/value engineering, analyze sub bids, balance subcontractor pricing with client needs. Develop preliminary estimates and budget, quantify all physical aspects of project on drawings, and evaluate competitive bid estimates. Provide clients with package of pricing, scope letters, and lead times; communicate quotes and budget status of the project with subcontractors, company and client. Document post project to database to provide entire team (accounting, project management, superintendents, Directors, etc.) with project information. Confirm actual conditions of project by doing site surveys. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
