SR Property Underwriter

This senior level underwriting individual will be responsible for handling an $8M Property, Machinery and Marine renewal book, in addition to a minimum of $1M in new business goals. Major lines of business handled include larger, more complex Property, Ocean Marine and Inland Marine business. The position requires the individual to work with the practice leader to develop a business plan for the Northern California territory as well as for the Marsh Western Zone Territory.

Individual will be responsible for the growth and profitability of an assigned book of business that will include Marsh book and other retail agents to be assigned based on individual skills and will require local and regional travel.

Candidate must have at least 5-7 years underwriting experience handling larger middle market commercial insurance risks in the Property & Marine arena. Candidate will be required to review and evaluate new and renewal business in accordance with established underwriting guidelines in order to achieve department goals of profit, rate and growth.

This position requires an individual who possesses leadership skills with the ability to organize, lead and substantially contribute to diverse teams within the branch and region. The candidate should demonstrate success in the marketing and sales intangibles, negotiating, building strong relationships with customer, and also in providing exceptional customer service; has good communication skills with groups or one-on-one, and someone who can organize their work well and utilize multiple internal/external resources in an efficient manner. Candidate must be a team player and demonstrate they can work cohesively with service staff, loss control and claims
