Act as a Subject Matter Expert for selected financial and operational risks of GNW's Life line-of-business under the direction of the Senior Risk Leader.
Design, implement and manage risk processes that provide an early warning of events or conditions that may impair the performance of the business, for example: Life Risk Committee reviews, In-Force reviews and underwriting and/or claims audits
Design and monitor risk metrics that warn of emerging financial or operation threats, for example: RADAR's, actual to expected mortality / morbidity / persistency analytics, cause of death analyses, unit cost studies and underwriting audit trend analyses
Lead cross-functional mitigation efforts for identified risks or unfavorable trends
Devise risk mitigation strategies
Resolve or assist in resolving ad hoc Risk Management issues such as reinsurance retention levels, catastrophic reinsurance purchases, the threats posed by life settlement practices, pandemics, etc. as they are identifiedBasic Qualifications:
BA/BS
7+ years of life industry, life consulting or equivalent experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Intense curiosity…strong desire to develop a conceptual understanding of complex issues
Reputation for professional integrity
Demonstrable record of successPreferred Candidate Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Finance
Knowledge of GAAP and statutory insurance accounting
Strong computer skills
CLU, ChFC or FLMI designation
