Research and Development Actuary

Position Summary:
Responsibilities are two fold:
1. Identify and price financial solutions for new ideas and designs. Create pricing models and work with internal and external staff to find solutions to pricing ideas. (75%)
2. Serve as back-up to Pricing Actuaries. Drive pricing of identified designs through Actuarial areas of our Carriers. (25%)


Primary Job Duties:
1. Lead efforts with Company Senior Management to identify new and innovative product features and designs.

2. Work with investment professionals to develop appropriate and efficient hedges for new product designs, and develop pricing models to calculate costs of various new ideas and features.

3. Lead efforts to obtain appropriate sign-offs from Carriers to move forward with innovative product designs, and help with handoffs of implementation and rollout support to Pricing Actuaries.

4. Serve as back-up to Pricing Actuaries. Create pricing models for identified product designs. Set appropriate Actuarial assumptions, and investment parameters. Obtain sign-offs from Marketing, VP of Product Development and Carriers for products priced, and help with rollout efforts as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements:
1. Attainment of FSA or ASA designation with 10+ years experience in life insurance industry.
2. Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries.
3. Prior Pricing experience with knowledge of investments and hedging tools.
4. Excellent verbal and communication skills.
5. Analytical and team-player
6. Strong Knowledge of Excel modeling

Preferred Requirements:
1. Strong experience in Investment and hedge valuation.
2. Ability to think outside the box.
3. Knowledge of TAS or ALFA Actuarial software
4. Experience in working in a consulting environment
