Project Accountant

I. Financial Administration.


A. Evaluate and review accounting procedures and controls to ensure accurate financial reports, adequate safeguarding of company assets and efficient utilization of finance personnel.


B. Perform financial analytics on an as-needed basis.


C Work with the VP Finance to prepare the annual division business plan and reforecasts as necessary on JV projects.


D. Prepare and monitor the payment & performance agreements with outside land sellers, submit check requests as needed.


E. Prepare and supervise the processing of funding requests from venture partners.


F. Prepare capital reconciliations and preferred return calculations with venture partners.


II. Financial Reporting.


A. Manage joint venture and partner relationships. Interface with personnel at outside partners through verbal and written communication.


B. Provide accurate and timely financial reports to venture partners for historical and prospective purposes as required per the joint venture agreements.


C. Develop “best practices” in the joint venture/partner reporting area.


D. Assist Accounting Manager in accounting and record-keeping functions associated with the monthly preparation of financial statements in accordance with established timeframes in regards to JV projects.


III. Team Management and Leadership.


A. Recruit and select well-qualified, high potential team members for the accounting department.


B. Continuously educate and train department team members to ensure they are capable of performing all aspects of their position.


C. Strive to achieve a high level of job satisfaction for all team members and create a motivational environment for each employee.


REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job in accordance with corporate requirements and professional business practices.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or a related business degree required. CPA preferred.
Must possess advanced skills in spreadsheet preparation - Excel.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Prior management experience.
Homebuilding experience preferred.
