Principal Strategic Development Manager

Rockwell Collins Services (RCS), the parts and services division of Rockwell Collins, a $3.45B Fortune 500 aerospace and defense company that engages in the design, production, and support of communications and aviation electronics for military and commercial customers worldwide, has an open position on the strategy planning and development team for a Principal Strategic Development Manager.



The primary responsibility of the position is to develop new growth opportunities leveraged across the division's portfolio of parts, services and simulation and training businesses based upon changing industry, market, and customer requirements with direction in the government markets. These tasks will include identifying, developing and implementing alliance, joint venture, and merger and acquisition opportunities based upon shared business objectives and complementary core competencies. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that business cases are supported by sound strategic operating analysis and financial rationale to meet the identified growth objectives.



Business Strategy and Direction Accountabilities: Know and understand the Aerospace/Defense Industry with in-depth knowledge of Government/Defense Familiar with Government service contracting DoD Established credibility with GS LCVSMs (internal candidate) Catalyst in developing, positioning and executing strategic growth plans for RCS to exploit and grow the service opportunities in the Government markets Familiar with Government Commercial OEM practices Provide regular updates to Strategy Development Senior Director and RCS General Manager and Sr. VP on the execution of identified strategiesResponsible for the financial analysis of acquisition opportunities, including scenario planning & analysis for operating results, earnings contribution analysis, and quantification of synergy opportunities. Contributes to Due Diligence activities supporting M&A to include financial modeling and analysis expertiseCoordinate and work with senior leaders and external consultants to develop the analyses to support strategic options and recommendationsAct as liaison with Business Segment and Enterprise Leaders working as an advocate to align strategic goals and business decisionsSupport the Business Segment Strategic and Marketing Leaders in developing an Alliance Management Process and Strategic Alliances that are efficient and align the work with Strategic Alliance Partners in accordance to the Rockwell Collins long range strategic priorities, and in support of the enterprise-wide overall gap analysisSupport the integrated strategic and financial planning process as well as other critical quarterly and annual planning activitiesMust deal with highly ambiguous problems and cope with rapid changes to environmental and market conditions. Must have a solid grasp of the complexity of Business Unit and segment strategies, gaps and plans

Additional Skills:

Master's degree preferredAt least 5 - 10 years of relevant experience with new business development, project management responsibilities, strategic leadership and Merger/Acquisition. Prior Aerospace/Defense experience or extensive knowledge of the industry highly desired. Strong entrepreneurial skills and posses an ability to work at the highest levels with very little/no supervision. Strong MS PowerPoint/Excel skills are required. Minimal travel is required in this position. Ability to respond to ad hoc market and analytical inquiries from leaders of Rockwell Collins Services. Ability to effectively present information to top RCS and enterprise management. Advanced PC skills are preferred. Must be adept at converting abstract strategic ideas into concrete, robust, data-supported presentations.
REQUIREMENTS


This job requires a Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline, or equivalent, and a minimum of 8 years (normally 10-12) of specifically related experience including supervisory or project management responsibilities.

Position requires US Citizenship oer Permanent Resident (Green Card).
