Position Title: Middle Markets Casualty Underwriter - Group Captives

Travel Percentage: Minimum

Job Summary:
This position underwrites our largest ($200M+) and oldest group captive.

Under limited direction, underwrites and analyzes new and renewal casualty business. Administers and monitors underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manuals. Works within broad limits and authority on highly complex assignments. Markets companies' products and services through an agency plant or through the brokerage community. Develops/maintains agency and/or broker relationships.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent

5 or more years of experience handling large casualty accounts with a detailed knowledge of loss sensitive rating plans including large casualty deductibles. Working knowledge of paid loss retros required as well. The ideal candidate will have substantial casualty underwriting knowledge of large Middle Markets business including exposure, hazard, and product analysis.

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills. In-depth knowledge of line/s of business and legal and regulatory guidelines.
2. Strong negotiation skills.
3. Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.
4. Ability to effectively assess risk.
5. Ability to multi-task.
6. Ability to function in a team environment.
7. Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
8. PC literate.
9. Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility.
10. Solid knowledge of processing methods and workflow procedures, andbasic knowledge of insurance underwriting and regulations for assigned territories.
11. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
12. Must be able to function effectively in team environment.
