Investor Reporting Representative
NOVASTAR MORTGAGE, a leader in the mortgage industry, is looking for a talented individual to join our Investor Reporting team within the Servicing Division of NovaStar Mortgage, Inc. This ever-growing division services NovaStar's already 10 billion loan portfolio!
The Investor Reporting Analyst provides investor reporting assistance, including reconciliation of reports and bank accounts, all functions relating to servicing transfers as well as support to the Investor Reporting Supervisor/CPI System Administrator.
Responsibilities include:
Analyze and Reconcile Trustee report generated by Portfolio Management Dept. to system generated report monthly. Research Loan Principal, Impounds, Escrow, and Corporate Advances to ledger, MSP, and our servicing suspense account.
Reconcile bank accounts associated with each securitization monthly. Analyze balance discrepancies, figure out why there are variances and make recommendations for systemic fixes.
Reconcile payment clearing and returned items bank accounts daily, ensure we are in SOX compliance on the accounts. Research payments made on accounts and track money through various accounts, cashiering, PIF and accounting to reconcile and fix discrepancies to clear $ to ensure our financials aren't adversely impacted. Process corporate check request distribution and clearing to keep in compliance with escheatment rules for disbursements.
Process return wires, notify other internal customers of incoming wires and ensure timely payment and application to the system. Prepare wire forms from reconciled remittance amounts to distribute remittance in a timely fashion. Ensure that advances are made from corporate funds accurately to cover remittance amount.
Review POS legal agreements to ensure we are executing conversions, etc per requirements for securitizations as well as interim servicing clients.
Analyze delinquency numbers on the portfolio and ensure they are correct prior to posting or reporting to investors. Reconcile liquidation numbers, remove loans from MPS and report losses to trustee as applicable. Do non-monetary adjustments as applicable.
Responsible for setting up investor headers and tying appropriate bank accounts to the headers for proper fund distribution on loans.
Coordinate the work of other employees but have no supervisory responsibilities, to include: assign tasks, train on task performance, schedule work, review the work of others, and instruct other employees in methods or procedures needed to carry out their jobs.
Other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
Travel Percentage: 0%Qualified candidates must have the following:
Prefer 1-2 years of experience in mortgage loan servicing or accounting. Accounting experience very helpful. Would also prefer at least 1 year experience in a lead or senior role.
Familiarity with a wide range of loan documents and some understanding of the loan origination process.
Good organizational and analytical skills a must.
Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
Ability to work quickly, accurately and with attention to detail in a high volume environment.
Ability to research and understand complex directives.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to query via vlookup, access or other method to identify data discrepancies.
High School diploma or equivalent. Some college or comparable experience preferred. Education may be substituted for required years of experience with a relevant Bachelor's degree.
