Insurance Verifier

The INSURANCE VERIFICATION REPRESENTATIVE is responsible for accurately verifying benefits and obtaining appropriate authorization for all patient admissions, observations, OP procedures, etc. Once benefits are verified, contact to patient or family member for co-pay or deductible. Sets payment arrangements with patients in accordance to hospital policy. Identifies and adheres to the requirements for pre-authorization and utilization review. Responsible for performing Medicare verifications on MEDA or online verification. Obtains and revises information as necessary to allow appropriate billing and follow up to maximize reimbursement of patient accounts. Assists in patient registration as necessary. Transports patients as necessary. Assists patients with billing questions, takes payments and sets up payment arrangements as necessary. Assists in all registration functions as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Prior hospital and/or registration experience preferred. Competence and ability to organize and prioritize assignments, computer experience preferred, minimum typing skills of 45 wpm, must have excellent listening, communication and public relation skills. Must work in a team atmosphere and be willing to take on additional responsibilities when necessary.
