Home Office, Underwriting Analyst

This position has technical responsibility for the activities of a
Medical Underwriting unit. Activities include:

Evaluation and analysis of Group Medical Underwriting
guidelines to ensure appropriateness of risk
Oversight and coordination of policies and procedures
Guidance to underwriting staff through formal communication of
policies/procedures
Development and oversight of training initiatives
Recommendation of changes to procedures and guidelines in
accordance with analysis of medical underwriting data
Development and documentation of standard operating procedures
(SOPs)
Assurance of compliance with state and federal regulations
Oversight for vendor relationships
Responsible for staying current with industry developments
May manage a staff of 6-10 underwriters

Qualifications

A bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
A minimum of 5 years of management experience
Insurance industry background required; knowledge of
Individual Insurance underwriting a plus
Strong problem solving skills
Proven independent decision-making capabilities
Strong partnering and negotiation skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong supervisory skills
