Executive Vice President, Commercial Banking

Primary Responsibilities Will Include:
The selected candidate will be a proven, knowledgeable and proactive banking executive with significant experience in all areas of commercial borrower analysis and approval. The individual will be required to lead Countrywide Bank's efforts related to the evaluation and approval of commercial borrowers as well as the analysis of various trends impacting the Bank's credit offerings, market positioning and risk profile. The individual will have accountability for validating the credit worthiness of borrowing entities, ensuring specific credits meet bank profitability thresholds and making credit decisions that maximize revenue, minimize risk and deliver shareholder value.
The EVP, Commercial Banking will manage the credit approval function on a daily basis, maintaining responsibility for the quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the operation. The individual is responsible for leading the design, development and implementation of the Bank's credit approval facilities for mortgage warehouse and non-real estate lending. The selected candidate is expected to drive the evaluation, acquisition and mentoring of talent in order to build a team capable of achieving credit approval business objectives.

The position requires a seasoned executive, who has an approachable and personable style but who also has high energy and drive. A deep understanding of commercial banking operations with specific knowledge of commercial lending laws, regulations and compliance requirements is required.
- Managing the commercial credit approval operation including people, processes and technology.
- Reviewing and approving the Bank's mortgage warehouse lenders and non-real estate, commercial borrowers.
- Participating in Bank credit approvals and renewals.
- Managing the Bank's warehouse and non-real estate commercial lending infrastructure including: staff, reporting, and interactions with governance bodies.
- Monitoring both individual borrower as well as portfolio credit trends.
- Analyzing and interpreting the implications credit trends have for the Bank and make recommendations for appropriate tactical or strategic credit approval process corrections.
- Implementing all guidelines, procedures and work flow for credit approval operations.
- Issuing and maintaining commercial credit approval policies and procedures.
- Proactively communicating with stakeholders regarding credit approval operations, issues and risks.

A Successful Candidate will have:
- 10 years commercial lending including 5 yrs of credit approval experience at a large national bank.
- Broad and varied knowledge of commercial banking operations, banking and lending laws, and regulatory compliance issues related to commercial lending.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills, initiative, and problem solving capabilities.
- Superior writing, editing and analytical skills.
- Proven executive experience including: team leadership, relationship management, oral and written communication, and data analysis/synthesis.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated management and organizational skills.
- High level of proficiency with Lotus Notes and MS Office Applications including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.

An Ideal Candidate May Also Possess:
- Master's degree in Business or related disciplines preferred.
