Candidate will provide statistical/econometric modeling support to fundamental and quantitative analysis group in managing product and commodity risk exposure in areas including grains, fresh meats, poultry, energy, dairy, and packaging.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Maintain thorough analysis and understanding of commodities and products market information from both external and internal sources.Develop forward price curves for multiple products (e.g., boneless breast, leg quarters, beef trimmings, ribeyes, etc.) using econometric or Monte Carlo simulation techniques and provide backtesting to insure accuracy. Develop real-time forecasting expert systems that may be incorporated into intranet website for company-wide access.Develop supply, demand, import, and export forecast models across spectrum of commodities and provide appropriate sensitivity and simulation analysis to support and validate models. Serve as point person for company on econometric modeling efforts and interface with commodity trading and risk management group and other business units on forecasting and analysis issues.Provide elasticity analysis of multiple products for business units using data mining, regression, and/or time-series modeling techniques.Provide training on forecasting/modeling and general commodity risk management.
Position-Specific Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS
Education: BS required. MS or PhD preferred (Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering or related field).Experience: 5+ years experience in commodity trading/product pricing/research analytics environment within agriculture, energy, equities, or fixed income.
Background and experience in regression analysis and time series econometrics and financial modeling.
Experience in derivatives valuation and thorough knowledge of option pricing and greeks.
Background in risk control (market risk, credit risk) and development of associated analytics (e.g., value-at-risk (VaR)) a plus.Computer Skills: Advanced excel modeling skills and experience in database development and operation. VBA programming in excel and SQL programming a plus.
Experience using statistical and time series software packages such as SAS, RATS or equivalent.Communication Skills:
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills. Candidate must be able to articulate complex model concepts to diverse audience of Tyson personnel.
