Develops, implements, monitors and provides overall direction for the programs of the Department of General Fund Development. Participates in the strategy setting and tactical planning for Hoag Hospital Foundation. Works with the Vice President/Chief Operating Officer to develop direction for the programs of and long-range plan for Foundation. Cultivates donors to build relationships and increase financial support each year. Participates as a member of the management team of the Foundation. Develops and monitors fiscal guidelines, requirements and budgets for department and related fund-raising programs.
Directs two Annual Giving Coordinators. Develops and directs community relations programs to expand support for the Hospital; provides direction for the development of communication and marketing materials; enhances the image of the Foundation and Hospital in the community. Develops leadership, donor, volunteer and membership development programs and materials to increase participation, financial support and involvement; guides and influences volunteer leadership to continually develop and enhance fund- and friend-raising programs; provides professional guidance to volunteers.Application Process:

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of five years experience in upper management level position in nonprofit fund-raising foundation, institution or agency or service-oriented industry in the for-profit world. Is an experienced team worker with volunteer-led committees, staff and administration. Marketing experience and expertise with an emphasis on successful presentation of intangibles to affluent clientele. Has knowledge of traditional methods of annual giving (direct mail, donor clubs, membership organizations, benefit events and volunteer solicitation), the inner workings of nonprofit volunteer fund-raising organizations and IRS guidelines for nonprofit organizations. Experienced people manager with success in hiring, training, mentoring and motivating staff and volunteers. Bachelor’s degree required.
A problem solver with ability to make decisions, set priorities, and establishes and implements new programs. Has excellent oral and written communications skills and is effective and successful in using these skills. Experienced in working with all levels of management and staff; sophisticated, upscale clientele; and the community-at-large. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Ability to manage volunteers and volunteer-led programs and committees to establish and accomplish goals and objectives. Ability and desire to develop a passion for Hoag Hospital. Is comfortable and able to represent the hospital well in all settings. Able to balance demands of administration, staff and volunteers. Has a sense of humor; the ability to accept criticism; the ability to respond to needs; employ common sense; maintain calm at all times; requires no direct supervision; and is trustworthy, honest and loyal.
