Under the general direction of the Vice President Finance and System Controller, the Director is directly responsible for the accounting, reporting and control functions for Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Health System, Memorial Medical Center Foundation and System Pension Plan so as to control the receipt of revenues, expenditure of funds and conservation of assets. The Director is responsible for ensuring that complete and accurate financial records are maintained and adequate internal and administrative controls are in place with respect to receipt of revenues, expenditure of funds and conservation of assets. The Director also oversees the centralized Accounts Payable and Payroll functions, treasury, fixed assets and the maintenance of the centralized general ledger/financial reporting functions that covers 12 affiliated entities. The Director prepares variance analysis reports and reviews and analyzes financial and statistical information for the Vice President Finance and System Controller.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Business Administration with major in accounting required. MBA, CPA or other appropriate certification required.

Experience:Five to seven years of financial management experience. Experience must include three to five years in a hospital-related field and/or in performing hospital audits and seven to ten years of accounting experience. In addition, experience must demonstrate an adequate knowledge of hospital policies and procedures as well as overall hospital operations.

Other Skills and Aptitudes: Must be able to plan, direct, control and supervise all of the areas of direct responsibility. Must possess leadership traits; technical and professional accounting skills; ability to develop financial and other operational systems to accurately control hospital activities; and familiarity with information systems capabilities and procedures. Must also be able to schedule, meet and maintain daily and monthly routines, assign and direct personnel and maintain integrity of records. Must have sufficient oral and written communication skills to train and supervise personnel. Must possess analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able to work in a fast changing environment. Must possess a desire to implement new systems and practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of department. Must be politically astute to communicate and perform well with all levels in the organization. Must possess a strong desire to motivate staff to achieve results.
