The Data Content Quality Assurance position involves working in a team environment to develop and validate processes to assess data for downstream systems and applications. This position requires continuous involvement and participation with development teams to design, build and test software systems or products and the underlying components. The Analyst reviews, verifies and validates data requirements and tests, designs and troubleshoots the functionality of data within Fitch applications. This person will take a lead role on projects, coordinating and tracking test activities. May work on multiple projects at a time.
Responsibilities Include:
Work with various development and business teams to understand the product requirements and to verify that the data under test meets those requirements.
Work with IT and the Quantitative Financial Research groups to ensure the use of unit testing, code reviews, change control, build management, deployment plans, design and data model documentation, etc.
Conduct functional, integration, regression, performance testing of databases in their resident applications.
Provide validation of data output of the new systems by analyzing test results of the data and applications under test and make necessary modifications.
Develop and maintain high level test plans.
Design, implement and document test cases; work with IT and the Quantitative Financial Research groups to manage administration of ongoing tests.
Design, develop and maintain/enhance the QA automation software within the established framework.
Design and work with IT and the Quantitative Financial Research groups to implement alternate testing solutions when needed.
Track and report on test status including test coverage, test progress, defect management and overall project health.
Provide the appropriate test metrics to the project teams.
Identify and execute the manual test coverage.
Act as test coordinator and lead for selected projects.
Work with IT staff to enhance testing best practices and methodologies for the entire organization.
May require overtime or off-peak hours required to meet commitments.
Requirements Include:
Ability to work with all levels of management to understand and communicate data function, structure and testing processes.
Fluency in database search languages, especially SQL.
Organizational skills to deal with programmers and analysts to implement projects using databases.
Ability to monitor multiple database performance and create regular and one-off performance reports.
Demonstrated understanding of the underlying accounting and financial data relationships in areas of traditional and esoteric equity and fixed-income securities, corporate and economic financial data, securities pricing and other data.
Willingness to learn about new uses of financial data and to use this knowledge in the process of acquiring, integrating and assessing data for new projects.
Knowledge of existing commercial financial databases is a plus.
Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
