Purpose:
Working in one of Philips Corporate Staff Departments, you’ll be at the heart of our worldwide company. These departments play a key role in supporting the Royal Philips Electronics Board of Management (BoM). So you may be involved in helping manage the processes and functions core to our operations: Performance Management, Finance, Human Resources, Technology Management, Brand Management, or Information Technology.Whatever your role, you’ll be helping implement BoM decisions, measure our performance, set company-wide standards and drive corporate initiatives. Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for proper customs and export classifications of the products imported and exported by the Philips companies for which it is responsible. It assures that the appropriate duty payments are made and facilitates the customs clearance through the use of the concept of informed compliance and reasonable care. It assures that the proper export license type, license exception, ECCN and tariff number are used for export and advises their ECO’s regarding export control matters. Contacts include account representatives from services companies, purchasing, logistics, customs coordinators and export control officers and accounting managers at PD/BG operating unite; US Customs supervisions and clerks. Accountable for classification of imported and exported product. Resolve Customs and Export Control classification from PD/BG operating units and US Customs. Train and guide Customs Coordinators and Export Control Officers of regarding Philips policies, operational guidelines and compliance strategy. Reinforce corporate Customs and Export Control policies and procedures for service companies and PD/BG operating units. Read, analyze and interpret legal rulings for application to company customs and export control issues. Respond to inquiries from US Customs, service organizations, and operating units through written correspondence.Philips is an equal opportunity employer.Job ID 37298

This position requires the aggressive pursuit of information, knowledge and the exchange of ideas with government authorities, internal and external personnel in order to be on the top of your game. It requires attention to detail. The challenge is to be continually vigilant in obtaining the details required to comply with reasonable care and informed compliance standards. Every action is based on a strict process with deadlines imposed by the governmental authorities regulating imports and exports. There is opportunity to deal with many functions within a PD/BG and have a direct effect their bottom line. The position has decision making authority in daily activities for export control and customs with the escalation of the issues where appropriate to departmental and PD/BG management.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Bachelor’s degree 5-10 years experience in customs and export department with regulatory experience in a major corporation or service company preferred. Strong oral or written analytical, detail oriented organizational skill are necessary. Ability to read, to analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and literature as well as government regulation is required. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures without supervision. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers, other government agencies.
