Cost Coordinator

Company: North America Mining Job Function: Accounting/Finance Job Description: Major Responsibilities Under general supervision, conducts cost audits, and prepares and analyzes cost reports in accordance with generally accepted cost accounting principles and Phelps Dodge policies and procedures.
1.Analyzes cost records to ascertain distribution of costs to the appropriate cost centers and assets. Identify and resolve issues as they arise, working closely with the Accounting department.
2.Conducts and analyzes audits of costs and prepares reports.
3.Records cost data for use by management in controlling expenditures. Acts as a cost information source for site/division with emphasis on identification and resolution of expenditure problems.
4.Analyzes actual costs versus standard costs, and expenditures versus budgets. Reports variances to management.
5.Compiles cost data for preparation and consolidation of operating and manpower budgets.
6.Assists with monthly forecasting.
7.Determines and installs cost accounting methods and procedures.
8.May participate in special projects and in company sponsored steering teams.
9.Performs other duties as required.Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related area.

Three (3) to four (4) years experience in accounting, financial analysis or mine operations.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting.

Possess strong data analysis and problem solving skills.

Skilled in utilizing and developing computer databases and spreadsheet files.

Able to motivate, communicate with and instruct/train others, using both technical and non-technical language to explain complex subjects and processes..

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Criteria/Conditions(specific background and skills)
Work is mostly performed in an office setting. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday.

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing plant environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and other protective equipment as required.
