Princeton University is a vibrant community of scholarship and learning that stands in the nation's service and in the service of all nations. Chartered in 1746, and known as the College of New Jersey until 1896, it was British North America's fourth college.Position Summary: The Treasurer's Office seeks an Assistant Director, Capital Budget to assume responsibility for the daily oversight and monitoring of the University's $1 billion dollar capital budget, encompassing both new construction and renovations. Reporting to the Associate Treasurer, this position will assume the front-line responsibility for the University's capital program with the following specific responsiblities: - Create and maintain capital budget spreadsheets which are presented to senior University officials and Trustees on a regular basis; - Maintain detailed funding and expense information for all approved capital projects and monitor the financial statuses of these projects throughout the project life-cycle; - Participate in the University's annual process of debt issuance by assisting in the sizing of the debt issue; - Allocate the proceeds of tax-exempt debt to individual projects as a source of project funding, and monitor and adjust allocations as necessary; - Close out completed projects from a financial perspective by ensuring that budgets, funding and expenses are all in alignment; - Interact with senior staff in the Provost's Office, Facilities Office, Development Office, and other offices, on a regular basis to ensure that there is a uniformity of understanding regarding project statuses, budgets, and funding; - Prepare and compile the necessary documents for submittal to the Finance Committee for individual projects for which Trustee action is required; - On a macro-level (overall capital budget), ensure that funding sources and commitments are aligned to ensure the long-term financial viability of the University's capital program; - Monitor the balances of University reserve funds which support the capital program; - Prepare multi-year forecasts of capital funding and expenses on an as requested basisJob Function: Administrative or ProfessionalGrade: ADM 070Standard Hours: 22.66Eligible for Overtime: NoJob Requirements
Essential Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a four-year college degree, plus 3-5 years of prior experience in monitoring large budgetary units, preferably in the context of construction/renovation projects. Superior accounting skills are required, along with experience working with an enterprise general ledger accounting system (knowledge of the PeopleSoft Financials product hightly desirable). Strong computing skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, are also required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are an essential qualification for this position.Education Required: Other-see essential qualifications
