Support specialist preferably with development experience needed in the Investment Management Application Service Delivery group to support and troubleshoot production trading systems, Real Estate, front office and middle office applications. Support specialists work on a team dedicated to solving application performance, defect and stability issues while providing small enhancements and process improvements. Support specialists work in a cross-functional environment including development, networking, operating systems, database, application servers and web serving. Knowledge and understanding of each layer is a critical factor to success. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to fully use and apply standard technical troubleshooting principles, system analysis and testing while following standardized Release Management policies and procedures. Must have the ability to work on projects and other assignments with minimal direct supervision. Familiarity with financial instruments and portfolio management is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Provides user/technical support to assigned Investment Management business function. Maintains operation, monitoring and integrity of production systems to meet established standards. Provides ongoing support of one or more products at agreed service levels. Participates in the Incident Management and Problem Management processes as a resolver accountable for root cause analysis, resolution and reporting. Ensures that all production changes are processed according to Change Management policies and procedures. Ensures that appropriate levels of Quality Assurance have been met for all new and existing products. Ensures that products and changes are fully documented, supportable and captured in the Configuration Management Database. Work on a team to categorize, prioritize and resolve software application issues dealing with all levels of the Investment Management technology organization in support of our Equity groups.
Interface with internal and external business and technical partners.
REQUIREMENTS
Two to Four years of progressive experience in computing, development, architecture and/or client/server n-tier application experience required. The main responsibility is troubleshooting production issues, solving problems and implementation of production software.Moderate financial industry support experience. Excellent knowledge of modern software operating systems and experience in supporting distributed component-based software solutions. Knowledge and experience with middleware tools required. Strong background in systems project life cycle with emphasis on VMS, MS Access, VBA, Sybase Transact SQL, Perl, Unix and performance tuning or similar knowledge required. Experience with data management, relational or object-oriented systems. Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting commercial software packages. Strong research, investigation and evaluation skills. Effective skill and experience regarding system behavior and resolution. Strong system analytic ability and practices. Experience with successful implementation and support of highly scalable and highly available systems in an n-tier environment. Ability to identify and clearly communicate problems/support requests in order to influence the prioritization of production defects and/or enhancements. Proven ability as a member of a team to communicate technical and production-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff. Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment that includes a global focus. Experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, auditing, risk analysis, business resumption planning and contingency planning. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Results oriented and highly flexible individual.
