REQUIREMENTS
So how do you achieve all of this?First, you must have at last an Associates Degree (BS preferred) in a technical area such as chemical engineering, environmental engineering, biology, chemistry or other engineering or science [If you are currently a water or wastewater treatment plant operator and would like to have the opportunity to actually manage a facility, this could be your chance !!!]Secondly, you must enjoy "hands on" work. This is a plant role, i.e. you will be running a water or wastewater treatment plant so you need to like people, like equipment and like the outdoors. This is not a lab job.Third, you have to willing to do what it takes to learn the water and wastewater business. This is accomplished through a full year of training. There will be several weeks of in-house training at corporate headquarters followed by several months of hands-on training at several plant sites. The total training program is one year.Fourth, to achieve the end goal of being a plant manager after you finish the training program, you need to be willing to go where there is an opening for a plant manager.
