Science and Engineering Crystal Growth Technician
Individual will be responsible for setting up and growing ribbon on the crystal growth furnaces, running experiments, making experimental measurements and recording data, and equipment assembly and maintenance.
This position is a first shift position. The weekly work schedule will vary between three or four 12 hour days to attend to 24 hour crystal growth furnace operation, interfacing with a night shift technician, and five 8 hour days, depending on the experimental demands. Flexibility to occasionally work overtime, nights, and weekends is required. This position is scheduled to work alternating weekends.
Specific responsibilities include:
Assembling hot zone set-ups and preparing crystal growth furnaces for growth runs
Growing silicon ribbons from experimental set-ups on multiple furnaces, including in a clean room environment
Laser cutting, inspecting, and measuring the wafers produced, including thickness and flatness profiles, minority carrier lifetime and resistively measurements, optical microscopy, and other measurements as they are developed
Recording growth run data, observations, and measurement results in writing and on the computer network in appropriate file locations and formats including Excel
Performing experiments, including measuring temperature, thickness, voltage, and other furnace parameters with thermocouples, voltmeters, and other laboratory tools
