Plant Facilities Technician
The general duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1.) Provide assistance to the Plant/Facilities Section in areas related to building monitoring programs, 2.) Assist with the development of new technology for building energy management systems, 3). Provide training to develop the skills of additional individuals to become familiar with the facility systems 4.) Work on diverse projects as needed within the Section/Division; 5.) The ability to maintain confidentiality, work on multiple tasks, work well under pressure to meet deadlines, have strong English oral and written communications skills, and be able to interact with all levels of CPS management and field personnel; 6.) Must be motivated, a self starter, and be capable of functioning with minimum direct supervision; 7.) Travel to field areas and Service Centers as required and analyze existing mechanical situations and develop solutions and alternatives to accomplish objectives while conforming to CPS’ Vision, Mission, and Values
REQUIREMENTS
Entry grade into the position will be determined by experience and education. The following qualifications are required for the position. 1.) A valid Texas driver's license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPS policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable laws and regulations; 2.) Relative experience in Electronics, Controls systems, and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); 3.) Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in the HVAC industry with building controls systems, 4.) Must have experience with Microsoft based virtual instrumentation, structured programming languages, Metasys programming, and CAD packages such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Design Cad, etc.; 5.) The ability to work well as a member of a closely structured team; 6.) Experience with developing detailed equipment specifications, project work planning and material estimation; 7.) The ability to perform work with limited direct supervision; 8.) The ability to work in a field or office environment; 9.) Effective oral and written communications skills; 10.) The ability to work overtime and work call duty on a rotating basis; 8) The ability to climb, walk, stoop, and lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs; 11.) The ability to diagnose problems in building related electronic equipment.
The following qualifications are preferred for the position but not required: 1.) The ability to read blueprints and be able to make decisions from the information they contain; 2.) Familiarity with safety standards; 3.) Experience with the coordination of multiple projects; and 4.) An Associates degree in Electronics and Controls systems, and/or an Associates degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) from a recognized and accredited program, or equivalent and relative experience in the fields mentioned above.
