Shft: RotatingJob Description:Regulates the workflow and processing linen.Picks up and transports soiled linen from the towers, special areas, and to the sorting area, maneuvering carts in the most expedient and safe manner. Sorts soiled linen according to classifications and using prescribed techniques. Removes foreign objects from soiled linen and disposes of according to established procedures, handling lost and found items in the assigned method. Hoists soiled linen to proper location on monorail. Distributes clean linen, either on foot or utilizing electric mule as the case may be, throughout the hospital , returning exchange carts and baskets of unused linen to the loading area. Assists with loading linen, linen exchange carts, or filling special orders as needed. Assists with area cleaning or preparation tasks (cleaning cartwheels, filling laundry bags, placing protectors on pillows, etc.).
Fills linen orders (standing and special) accurately and maintains complete and accurate records of all orders going out and linen being returned to laundry. Coordinates with laundry supervisor as to the need for various linen items throughout the day to assure that all linen orders are filled an delivered. Evaluates finished linen for stains, tears and quality, to remove unacceptable linens. Places unsuitable linen in designated baskets for mending or rewash. Assists porter delivering special orders if workload demands.Experience
Position requires six months to one year of linen/decontam management, preferably in a health care environment.Education/Licensure
Position requires a High School Degree. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be consideredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must possess knowledge of decontamination and linen processing; ability to utilize computer processing in day to day activities; ability to provide day to day work direction, orientation and training to other staff members; strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; good communication skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
