Facility Maintenance Mechanic

Pierre Foods, Inc., an innovative processor of premium quality beef, pork and poultry products, has an immediate opportunity available for Facility Maintenance Mechanics with HVAC for 2nd Shift.


GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To provide basic mechanical and electrical maintenance practices to perform duties such as teardowns, rebuilds, troubleshooting and design of new equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide basic mechanical and electrical maintenance duties requiring the utilization of current maintenance practices.

2. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical maintenance on all facilities equipment including refrigeration equipment, air make up, boilers, and all other systems plant wide.

3. Be able to read manuals and order parts from supply houses.

4. Work daily with the facilities personnel to help with startup and training of operators.

5. Must have universal certificate.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain a clean work area and help clean the maintenance shop on a rotation basis.

2. Help train the new level one mechanics as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work in 40 degree environment

2. Ability to lift weights of up to 100 pounds

3. Ability to work in a team environment

4. Ability to wear SCBA equipment


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High school education or equivalent; two (2) year vocational or specialized maintenance training preferred.

2. Excellent attendance record

3. Excellent work record

4. Three to Five years previous experience in maintenance

5. Be able to furnish own tools

6. Time expected to attain Facilities standards and learn to perform the work effectively in three (3) to five (5) years.
