Facility Administrator Exemption: Exempt Reports to: Regional/Divisional Vice President

Summary:
The facility administrator manages the overall operations for nursing services and care at the hemodialysis facility and assures the safe and therapeutic nursing management of the end stage renal disease patient (ESRD).
Qualifications:
1) Bachelor's degree preferred.
2) Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse within the state of employment preferred.
3) Four years experience in dialysis-related clinic is preferred.
4) Current CPR certification.
Essential Job Functions:
Facility / Equipment Management:
1) Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained to assure the safety of patients and staff.
2) Identify and plan prompt corrective action for any issues with building safety or equipment and systems.
3) Participate in the development and periodic revision of policies and procedures with the Regional Director/Medical Director to assure consistent efficient and systems.
4) Liaison to patients.
Financial Management:
1) Participate in budget formulation and review concerning personnel and scheduling needs with patient load.
2) Supervise inventory management including purchasing, product selection and supply usage.
3) Review and approve time cards of all staff for payroll.
4) Ensure patient and treatment change information and other related data are accurate and submitted to the DAVITA Corporate office in a timely manner.
Risk Management / Quality Assurance Compliance:
1) Compliance with DaVita policy and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services (Medicare, OSHA, or other governing agencies).
2) Compliance with state or federal regulations of the Injury Prevention and Safety Training Program.
3) Assist with the preparation of data summaries for internal audit purposes.
4) Assist with the creation and then implementation of any corrective action needed as a result of internal or external quality assurance, Medicare, OSHA, or other governing agencies.
5) Report and document all employee injuries according to established policy and procedure.
6) Participate in quality assurance programs with the Regional Operations Director and Quality Assurance Coordinator according to DaVita policy.
Patient Care Management:
1) Oversee nursing and technical services for patient treatment and assure that appropriate adjustments in treatment plans are developed and implemented and meet compliance with state and federal governing agencies.
2) Maintain communication and continuity of planned care when patient is transferred to other DaVita facilities.
3) Ensure placement of policy, procedure and resources to help the patient assume responsibility for his/her own health maintenance.
4) Maintain open communication with physicians, nurse practitioners and other health care professionals regarding patient care.
5) Administer policies, procedures, and resources to ensure safe, appropriate treatment of patients.
6) Perform patient care as required.
Employee Management:
1) Understand basic wage and hour laws, federal, state and local laws and regulations, Medicare, and legislation affecting employment in dialysis and nursing services.
2) Plan, organize and supervise the nursing, technical, and biomedical staff to ensure high quality patient care according to company policy.
3) Determine staffing plans that promote the maximum utilization of all personnel.
4) Develop and maintain educational programs to keep staff up to date on nursing practice, universal precautions, worker/patient safety etc.
5) Communicate policies and procedures to staff by way of manuals and in service education.
6) Provide work direction to nursing, technical, office and biomedical staff.
7) Responsible for all employee activity such as hiring, promoting, job performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions with appropriate approvals from the Regional Director and/or Corporate Human Resource Director.
8) Maintain employee records to include written performance evaluations of all staff. All records will be kept in compliance with DaVita policy.
9) Evaluate, record and process employee wage compensation according to company policy. Ability to understand and communicate DaVita company policies and procedures through the use of written policy manuals or in-service education.
