Facility Administration Engineer

Purpose: Our client, a large wireless carrier located in the Pittsburgh area, is seeking a Facility Administration Engineer (FAE).

The FAE will be responsible for cell site circuit provisioning in one or several markets in the Central Region. This includes attending Build Plan meetings and other project coordination meetings; developing joint DS3 requirements and securing cost quotes from suppliers; designing circuits end-to-end; and, ordering facilities to connect cell sites to the mobile switching center. For any given order, considerable research and coordination with one or several telcos and/or IXCs may be required before the order request is accurate and complete. After ordering, this person proactively monitors and tracks order status to completion, communicates status with other organizations, issues work orders to Operations, and updates all associated circuit inventory records. This person also keeps the Xng database of circuit inventory and ordering information current; conducts billing audits against circuit inventory; helps with billing disputes for either monthly recurring or non-recurring charges; participates in regional staff coordination meetings on Xng standards and vendor management; and, works with Facility Admin Engineering - Interconnect and Transport Engineering on joint circuit-related projects that optimize network and cost performance.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

-Engineer all cell related DS1's. This includes, but is not limited to design based on available network backhaul, cost of service and alternative solutions such as microwave.
-Order all DS1's to support the local market's build program and all other integration/growth projects.
-Track/Map all cell orders to completion.
-Function as the first line of escalating with LECs/IXC's to meet the demands of the local market.
-Support facility cost savings initiatives.
-XNG (Granite) - Create new DS1 paths & segments.
-XNG (Granite) - Identify unused facilities via XNG.

Applicants must have a Bachelors Degree, or 2-3 years equivalent work experience in, Wireless network Telecommunication facilities Circuit provisioning, such as ordering facilities from LEC/IXC. Experience with ASR/ASRW and be proficient in MS Word and MS Excel. Applicants must also have the ability to work independently at a location different from supervisor and possess excellent organizational skills/habits. Most projects require expedited implementation under the pressure of tight deadlines.
