The SAVVIS Facilities Technician is accountable for the operation and maintenance of data center systems and processes as assigned.

Responsibilities:
Provides hands on operation of IDC equipment and processes in accordance with procedures and policies.Collects data and performs rounds/readings.Performs maintenance of IDC equipment as appropriate to knowledge, skills, and certifications/licenses.Monitors contractors for procedural, safety, environmental, and risk mitigation process compliance with established procedures/policies/laws.Builds out customer installations in accordance with approved plans/work instructions, as assigned by data center.Provides technical expertise and assistance to customers in assigned areasResponds to emergent situations at data center as required

Position Objectives:
Operates IDC equipment and systems without error to obtain maximum availabilityCompletes assigned maintenance in accordance with approved schedulesWorks with others in the data center teams to exceed customer expectationsProvides suggestions for continuous improvements resulting in higher reliability and reduced costs

Essential duties:
Determines out of specification conditions and makes appropriate notifications and/or completes predetermined actions for the situation encounteredResponds to emergent conditions and follows predetermined actionsReviews draft procedures and policies and makes recommendationsMaybe asked to recommend contractors/vendors for required work

Required skills:
Strong practical and application of skill and knowledge of data center equipmentCustomer relationship buildingTechnical understanding and communication to peers/management, with customers, and vendors.Understanding and implementation of risk mitigation processesEmergency response

Education or Equivalent Experience:
Required:
Associates of Science degree or technical certification or equivalentCFC Universal License and/or Licensed Electrician or equivalentMore than 5 years experience in mission critical environments
Desired:
2 years data center facilities experience
