Facilities Engineering Technician
Purpose: PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee shall have the following minimum duties and responsibilities:
1.Conduct on-site monitoring of all phases of new and building retro-fit construction and data acquisition for Facility Engineering projects.
2.Review construction monitoring procedures and findings with Project Manager and/or Client Representatives.
3.Conduct routine maintenance of construction inspection equipment as well as perform the calibration and proper documentation of all applicable equipment.
4. Inform Director, Facilities Engineering Services or Houston Principal of workload, overtime requirements and status of current and future projects.
5.Write field inspection reports as required for project surveys, construction monitoring or testing activities.
6.Assist Director, Facilities Engineering, Project Managers and engineering staff with special assignments.
7.Other duties as assigned by Direct Report.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Employee shall possess the following minimum qualifications:
1.High school or GED.
2.Minimum 20 years experience as a construction monitoring and materials technician working in various facilities, observing all facets of commercial and multi-family residential building construction.
3.Possess valid Texas driver's license and meet firm?s auto insurability requirements.
4.Ability to read and understand instructions, drawings, specifications, labels, reports, etc.
5.Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs.).
6.Must have good computer skills to generate field reports and draft reports using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
7.Ability to work independently.
8.Ability to walk, stand, crawl, kneel, climb and repeat these activities, as needed, while working at job site.
9.Utilize hand tools such as sledge hammers, shovels, and picks.
10. Good oral and written communication skills to communicate problems, status of work, daily reports, etc.
11.Ability to work outside and work on equipment.
12.Present a professional appearance to best represent the firm.
13.Ability to comply with all attendance requirements as noted in most current edition of Corporate Policy Manual.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1.Works outside and is subject to weather conditions.
2.Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards and dangerous chemical/solvents.
3.Exposed to noise, dust, fumes, radiant and electrical energy.
4.Works on ladders and scaffolding.
5.May work protracted or irregular hours.
6.Flexibility to work irregular hours due to client needs.
7.Work related responsibilities require travel out of town to offices, client offices, and project locations.
