Job Title: Energy Manager
Summary: Plans, directs and coordinates activities concerning utilities and domestic energy consumption. This includes energy conservation measures, energy audits, contract negotiation, cost benefit analysis, etc. in the areas of: Trash Removal, Water, Electricity, Fuel (Gas) and Sewer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
·Analyzes data accumulated by accounting on utility usage and costs. Prepares reports for management that reflect assessment of program. Works with accounting and utilities on billing issues, overcharges, etc.
·Recommends to management capital expenditures that are cost effective, including detailed cost benefit and pay back analysis.
·Schedules energy audits. Confers with hotel managers, regional managers and utility representatives to determine hotel needs, appointment times, availability of representatives and scheduling conflicts.
·Investigates lighting sources and products. Implements policies and procedures for hotel operations on energy and lighting usage.
·Attends energy seminars, staff meetings and training sessions to improve knowledge of energy conservation techniques.
·Negotiates and administers national contracts, including trash removal.
·Where permissible, negotiates and administers utility contracts for gas and electric service.
·Arranges utilities for new hotels.
·Coordinates energy programs with shareholder representatives.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, speak and write clearly in English, the ability to analyze, and
interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete
variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word
Processing software.
