Cable Maintenance Technician

WORK SCHEDULE:Flexible (includes Sat/Sun)
WORK HOURS: Flexible
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Performs maintenance/sweeping of forward trunk and distribution systems and maintains documentation of system plant.
2.Assist in FCC system proof of performance testing.
3.Performs and proofs plant activations and extensions.
4.Troubleshoots and repairs system problems such as power supplies, active and passive devices and cables, including the maintenance of a date log on all completed work.
5.Repairs and replaces strand, lashing, pole line transfers and general construction.
6.Recognizes, practices, and enforces safety rules and procedures when performing technical tasks.
7.May train other technical personnel, when necessary.
8.On-call duties, during non-business hours, in the event of a system outage.
9.Maintains assigned service vehicles, such as two-way radios and beacon lights and all other pertinent equipment.
10.Maintains and stocks necessary materials and tools for company vehicle.
11.Performs 24 hour on-call duties on week on a rotating schedule, performing emergency repairs, return monitoring and limited headend repairs. 12.Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1.A minimum of 24 months experience as a Service Technician II is required.
2.Service Tech, System Tech and electronic or cable television courses are also required. 3.Skills include: lifting and carrying equipment, climbing, use of tools, and use of two-way radio. 4.Must have good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
5.Requires the ability to climb telephone poles or towers, dig trenches, and work outdoors year round.
6.Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
7.Must be able to work safely and with minimum supervision.
8.Working knowledge of city and map reading and radio procedures.
9.Must have the ability to solve technical problems with customers and technicians through effective verbal communication.
10.Must be able to maintain customer and personnel information in a confidential and professional manner.
