Vice-President, Logistics

•Directs and develops policies, procedures, systems and objectives for the operation of the Company’s purchasing and global out-sourcing functions.

•Develops and implements improvements in the overall purchasing function which enhance the interest and profitability of the Company.


•Ensures objectives are met at the lowest cost, consistent with budgets, schedule and quality requirements.

•Directs and supervises the appropriate purchasing staff.


•Investigates all new developments relative to material, components, assemblies and supplies and makes appropriate recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve quality.

•Develops additional or alternate sources of supply for key materials and fabrications. Secures sources of supply for new or improved materials and maintains a list of qualified and acceptable vendors.


•Responsible for meeting aggressive cost reduction and schedule targets.

•Ensures that subordinates have a clear understanding of departmental objectives and requirements.


•Conducts and handles negotiations with vendors and resolves conflicts or questions on prices, deliveries and specifications.

•Reviews and approves purchase requisitions over established levels. Receives quotations and secures bids.


•Furnishes purchase analyses and cost data for use in scheduling, planning, budgeting and other functional activities.

•Cooperates with Product Development and Design Engineering in the value engineering of our product lines.


•Visits vendors to investigate facilities, capacity and ability to meet quality requirements, specifications and delivery dates.

•Reviews and processes claims against vendors for unsatisfactory materials or equipment.


•Administers the department budget and other administrative functions to ensure a well integrated, efficient operation.
REQUIREMENTS
10-20 years of Purchasing experience dealing with large complex capital equipment.

Candidates should have some knowledge of global outsourcing of key assemblies, components, etc.
