Description:
Identifies and addresses the critical human resource needs of the overall business. Obtains information and identifies key issues and relationships relevant to achieving the long-range HR goal and vision.
Develops and implements the HR strategy that positively impacts the business result. (improve productivity, reduce cost, increase profitability).
Continuously develops ideas for leveraging human resources for competitive advantage.
Makes sound business decisions based on limited and/or complex information.
Develops and/or implements and tracks HR programs to solve business problems.
Leads efforts in creating and/or maintaining a proactive, positive culture. Consults with management on keeping culture vibrant and evergreen.
Provides HR generalist support and leadership as a key member of the business team.
Oversees labor relations management strategy and activities in conjunction with VP Operations, VP Finance and President. Advises and consults with bargaining and non-bargaining unit employees. Interacts with both inside and external labor counsel and labor officials.
Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships at all levels throughout the company that results in trust and confidence in the Department.
Provides guidance and may guide others to identify and take required actions in support of change initiatives.
Consults with leadership on effective teams, employee relations issues, labor relations issues and organization effectiveness. Participates in corrective action, performance improvement plans and terminations.
Pro-actively monitors internal and external changes in laws, policies, and practices to define and confront risk to employees and the business.
Ensures effective selection processes are used.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of HR generalist experience reflecting increasing responsibility. Experience from distribution or a related industry is preferred. Experience with labor relations management a must to include grievance settlements, mediation and arbitration. Strong knowledge of California laws.
Well versed in core HR competencies including employee relations, labor relations, benefits, compensation, recruiting, performance management, training, and employment practices.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, visionary, highly influential and persuasive. Superior communication and presentation skills. Creative problem solver. Ability to establish credibility and push back on business leaders as appropriate.
Bachelors Degree required; an advanced degree is a plus. Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) Certification is a plus.
