Classified Ventures, LLC, based in Chicago, is a strategic joint-venture among six large media partners whose objectives are to collectively capitalize on the revenue growth in the online classified advertising categories of automotive, apartments, and real estate. Apartments.com, a division of Classified Ventures, is a national online apartment guide and relocation resource distinguished by its highly customized searches, superior visual ads and affiliation with more than 150 newspapers across the country. Summary: This job serves two key roles for apartments.com. First this person will plan and direct the marketing initiatives for apartments.com as outlined below. In addition, this person is responsible for driving revenues for the apartments.com media sales group.
VP, Marketing Function:
Develop, analyze, and execute upon comprehensive marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives of the organization, with special emphasis on direct marketing (online) to consumers to visit Apartments.com and/or Moving Center, trade marketing to our 14,500 current customers, and direct marketing, online and offline, to rental owners/managers to increase FRBO revenue , RentalHomesPlus.com and ApartmentsPlus.com
Develop and manage $8 million dollar marketing operating budget focusing on both consumer and trade marketing.
Evaluate and determine distribution channel and public relations/consumer and trade contest programs
When appropriate, lead efforts to evaluate and modify consumer print campaign for in-kind Affiliate promotion
Oversee development and production of promotional and collateral material, including trade
Monitor competitive products and marketing activities
Oversee development and maintenance of consumer and customer email databases
Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials and events
Manage agencies or other vendors of outsourced projects, as needed.
Media Sales Function:
Manage all day-to-day operations of the apartments.com media sales effort including management of three full time employees. Responsible for all functions including sales, reporting/tracking, budgeting, client relationship management, etc.
Work in team environment to grow new and existing revenue of apartments.com online media and sponsorships
Formulate strategies and developing compelling presentations to win and maintain business for apartments.com
Negotiate pricing to maximize revenue
Maintain an on-going understanding of business development and advertising activities of advertisers and prospects
Proven track record of success in meeting and exceeding sales plans
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both externally with clients, and internally with co-workers
Experiences in both agency and online environments
REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:
8-10 years’ related experience.
Bachelor’s degree required, masters degree preferred.
Experience in paid keyword search management and search engine optimization preferred.
Must have a strong background in online (and offline) direct marketing, be able to establish overall departmental goals, guide a team of varying skills and provide solutions for attaining business objectives while remaining at or under budget.
Common MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email program (Outlook), Internet browsers (Explorer). Knowledge of design and pre-press software (Acrobat, Quark, Photoshop) a plus.
Key Skills and Qualities:
The person in this position must have strong decision-making, analytic and communication skills, the ability to tackle many projects and issues simultaneously while establishing a collaborative, team-focused environment.
The successful candidate will have a focus on ROI in terms of marketing expenditures and will be able to test, track and optimize marketing expenditures.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.
Ability to write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, customers, employees of the organization and the general public.
