Vice President – General Counsel

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top executives, managers, regulators, and the general public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Maintains thorough knowledge of Racing and Lottery Commission rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Is responsible to handle, or coordinate with outside counsel, all litigation issues affecting the company.
• Interfaces with HR department to interpret legal issues affecting employees in the areas of, but not limited to, FMLA, Workers Compensations, ADA, EEO, Unemployment, etc.
• Will work in conjunction with the Management on property development issues.
• Reviews all legal contracts as may be requested.
• Provides legal advice and knowledge to others within the company to ensure adherence to pertinent laws and regulations.
• In conjunction with HR department will develop/ facilitate training in the areas of harassment, legal aspects, right to manage and safety.
• Maintaining complete and organized records, tracking critical dates and deliveries.
• Promotes campaigns fostering favorable community relations.
• Participates in professional organizations that promote the development of Delaware Park.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Promotes outstanding guest service.
REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of ABA approved law school.

Minimum two (2) to four (4) years in a law firm and/or in house with a State regulated company. Must be able to practice as attorney in Delaware. Must be highly skilled in communicating via written and verbal formats. Must be capable of operating in a highly confidential environment. Must have good personal computer skills.
