VICE PRESIDENT / DIRECTOR – RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) PRODUCTS
POSITION PROFILE
Our client, the world’s largest manufacturer of their consumer electro-mechanical product ($700M+ growing to $1B) is searching for a VP / Senior Director of Radio Frequency (RF) Products. In this position, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for reporting departments, overseeing day-to-day operations, and handling customer service issues. We are looking for an executive who has extensive RF experience in a Plant Manager, Director of Operations, or a Director of Engineering role. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to move up into a VP role over a $500M business unit within the next several years.The VP / Senior Director of Radio Frequency (RF) Products oversees the Director of Engineering (sustaining engineering and quality assurance functions) and New Product Introduction, and reports to the Executive Vice President of Operations.As the VP / Senior Director of Radio Frequency (RF) Products, your skills and knowledge will be put in to action as you address the following key objectives:Absorb and consolidate the company’s technical requirements, improve the technical knowledge of subordinates, and increase the documentation library to improve the engineering organization’s capability to apply technology appropriately and to optimize performance.Lead the engineering effort to improve processes and achieve targeted production cost reductions. Improve internal engineering communication by developing excellent rapport with company executives and reporting personnel and facilitating clear, precise information flow about major product decisions, product problems, sustaining engineering issues, manufacturability analyses, cost factor input, etc.Assess the current organizational configuration, functional groups, and skills and attributes of the leaders within the groups, and develop a plan to optimize the performance of the organization.Develop a strategic plan for the company’s engineering organization that includes future direction of product design, internal engineering and manufacturing capabilities, vendor capabilities, new component technology, competitor actions, etc.Improve quality performance by ensuring that the company’s efforts to modernize engineering and manufacturing methodologies, through innovations including six sigma, lean manufacturing, demand flow, etc., are being driven through the quality assurance organization.Assess the resources needed to maintain and support production, including the introduction of new products. This will include recommendations for engineering equipment and tools, shop floor improvements, and a staffing plan for expansion of the team when needed.We expect strong candidates to have a B.S. in Engineering (Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred) and an MBA is a plus. We are looking for candidates with fifteen years of increasingly responsible engineering / operations experience, with at least 10 years of leadership. We are interested in candidates with experience working in high volume RF manufacturing environments, producing electrically-based consumer products. A technical understanding of similar (electrical) products is important, which could include digital signaling, or electrical circuitry / hardware background, as well as experience in cost reduction initiatives.You are a great candidate for this position if have excellent communications skills (English is critical; bi-lingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred), well-grounded business practices and financial measurements skills, and a proven track record of successfully leading sustaining engineering, quality, manufacturing engineering, and testing functions.If you have the background and experience we need and are a positively-focused, results-oriented, strategic thinker with effective communication skills and an energetic personality, we want to hear from you.
