VPN Engineer

Summit Technologies, Inc. has an opportunity for a few VPN Engineers with some 802.1X experience. This contract to permanent position and is located in the Reston, VA area.
Key Responsibilities:VPN Engineer•Location: Reston, VA
•Duration: 3-6 months with contract to hire.•Rate: NegotiableJob Description:The Virtual Private Network (VPN) Engineer will support our client Infrastructure. Involved in numerous projects and activities that include design, configuration, and installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of VPN. EXPERT level understanding (and ability to manipulate) VPN technologies and protocols such as: Cisco 3000 Series VPN concentrator, Cisco ASA security appliance, Cisco PIX firewalls, Sidewinder firewalls, Cisco routers and switches, general routing and switching, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC, GRE, VPN, Access Lists, MPLS, IP, AAA, Radius, TACACS, NAT. Daily activities require a solid understanding of both site to site VPN and individual remote access VPN sessions. Direct interaction with various project managers, matrixed internal teams and the client will be expected. Reports to the Manager of Network Infrastructure Engineering and will have interactions with Program Management and Clients
•Ensure compliance with all quality processes.•Monitor network core and performance reports; define action plans for improvements.•Interpret customer requirements and turn them into solutions (functional requirements).•Flexible and creative to adapt to environments where functional and business objectives evolve and change rapidly.
•Act as third level point of escalation for VPN related trouble tickets.
• 802.1X experience is highly desiredRequired Experience:•Operational and Implementation experience i.e., enterprise implementations
•STRONG communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal
•STRONG logical troubleshooting skills
•Minimum of 10 years telecommunications experience in various technical roles.
•5+ years of Sr. Technical experience, with AT LEAST the most recent 3+ of those years on large scale Infrastructure (Cisco/Microsoft/Unix environments) related projects
•Experience leading and completing large scale Infrastructure/Network related projects from establishment of business requirements through deliverables.•Must be able to present and interact with diverse groups of varying technical ability
•Solutions/Integration development skills
•Demonstrated advanced network troubleshooting skills
•Familiarity with Industry Best Practices
Desired Experience:
•CISSP, CCSP or SANS certifications
•Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering, or a computer-related field or the equivalent course work or technical training and/or professional experience. Master Degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.MUST BE a United States citizen.MUST BE clearable to Top Secret. Current active Secret or better is preferred.Behavioral Requirements:•Fluency in English - oral and written
